Can scoliosis get worse
while you are waiting for a brace?
It may happen that between the prescription of a brace and its actual application, some time can elapse, may this be due to
bureaucratic issues, issues linked to the orthopaedic shop or simply to personal reasons.
Considering that a brace is prescribed precisely to prevent scoliosis from getting any worse, it is
legitimate to wonder what happens while you wait for it to be delivered. Could your scoliosis get worse?
Well, there's really only one way to find out, which is to have another X-ray taken just before starting to wear your
brace. At ISICO, our doctors always ask for a new X-ray whenever, for whatever
reason, 3-4 months or more elapse between prescribing and fitting a brace. From these X-rays, we have seen that in some patients the condition
remains...

After Denver, SEAS will return to Serbia and
Turkey
"The course was AMAZING!!! I really appreciate the structure and flow. SEAS has made a very complicated spinal
dysfunction easier to understand. All the research really validates how we should be treating our patients. I am so grateful for your generosity in sharing
your knowledge with the rest of the world. Alessandra is a master instructor, and I would be honoured to take another one of her
classes!".
This is the comment of a participant in the SEAS
course in Denver/Colorado at the beginning of June, our physiotherapist Alessandra Negrini, returned to the USA after a two-year break due to the
Covid pandemic.
The next appointments? July will be an intense month that will see Michele Romano, director
of physiotherapy at Isico, engaged from 16 to 21 July in Novi Sad, Serbia, with two SEAS I courses, and then move to Ankara in Turkey from 26
to 31 July. We also remind you that the online courses in Brazil resume from 27 to 29 June, to continue 8 to 10 July.

Alessia has dancing in her heart. For years she has been

She never stopped dancing, even wearing her brace and never gave up until recently she won the title of 5th Italian
champion in the Modern/Contemporary dance category at the 2022 Italian championship.
Here are the words she wanted to share.
"My name is Alessia Mancini and I am a dancer. At the age of 6, I was diagnosed with very important scoliosis: my curve
was greater than 40 °. At the age of 11, I came to Isico...

Skiing, playing a musical instrument, dancing or even jumping in the air - is it possible when wearing a brace? Yes, it is;
the hundreds of patients who participated during the past 10 years in our Concorsetto, the national ISICO competition dedicated to brace
wearers, proved it.
The videos and images of these kids are the best encouragement for those preparing to follow a demanding therapy such as that for scoliosis,
and who are living the fear of not being able to practice a sport or play an instrument. For our monthly
appointment on our Youtube channel find out all you can do like Cindy...

Does scoliosis worsen in menopause?
Idiopathic scoliosis mainly affects females. Once reached adulthood, there are periods in a woman's life in which major body transformations
necessitate greater watchfulness.
One of them is menopause. In subsequent years the risks of a sudden worsening of the clinical situation increase. The body changes and the
ageing process that undergoes acceleration upon entering menopause can cause the worsening of existing curves and the appearance of new curves, so-called "de
novo scoliosis". This is why making periodic visits and checking your curve is important.
